LESSON 4/ HANDOUT # 6: SYRIANS IN THE NEW YORK TIMES, 1890-1925

NEW YORK'S SYRIAN QUARTER.

CROMWELL CHILDE.. New York Times (1857-1922). New York, N.Y.:Aug 20, 1899. p. IMS4 (2 pp.)

PDF  NYT Article PDF

Abstract (Summary)
A LITTLE imagination, like a little learning, is an exceedingly dangerous thing. It has a fashion of making ducks and drakes of the real truth, welding, oftentimes, exaggerations of facts into a tale not far from nonsensical, a farrago that would be dramatic and interesting were the picture only painted in its own true colors.
